While a little softer than chromium bearing steel, 440C stainless steel is a good alternative in constant wet conditions, or where sweat becomes a problem such as headset bearings. These bearings have stainless 440C races, balls & cages. This material provides maximum corrosion resistance in applications and environments where critical such as on your winter bike or for MTB.
